Since the early 1980s, Rotarians around the world have joined together in an historic effort to vaccine the entire planet against the polio virus and thus eliminate it. As of January 1st this year we had almost totally succeeded. Thanks to Rotary and its partners every nook and cranny of the world had been immunized except for one small area along the border of Afghanistan and Pakistan where the Taliban was actively impeding the immunization process for political gain. Two cases popped up in January. Two sick children out of 7 billion people in the world.
 
Imagine, if you will, we could say the same thing about Covid-19. This has been a herculean effort of more than 40 years we are truly on the verge of eliminating a disease worldwide.
