Oct. 1, 2024 - Historical Preservation in Swartz Creek
Dave Spillane, Board President
Swartz Creek Historical Society
The Historical Society of Swartz Creek is currently engaged in a fundraising effort to purchase the Miller-Holland House to be used as a historical museum. Dave will talk about the history of both the house and the city.
Rodney Heatherton, Superntendent Swartz Creek Community Schools
With tax proposals on the ballot in several school districts in our area including Swartz Creek and Carman-Ainsworth, voters often have questions like "What is the difference between a millage and a bond?", "What will voting yes cost me and for how long?" and "What will our children get out of it?" Club member Rodney will tackle these and questions and more.
This week we kick off our student of the month recognition for the school year where we honor two students from each of three high schools in the area, Carman-Ainsworth, Swartz Creek and Powers Catholic for their service to their schools and to their community.
At the end of the year one previous honoree from each school will be selected for Student of the Year and will be awarded a $1,000 scholarship.
