Like most sectors, finding skilled workers for most jobs in the healthcare industry is hard. Hear about a program designed to fill that need while assisting unemployed and underemployed residents of Flint and Genesee County with obtaining training and employment in the healthcare industry.
For several years, our Rotary club has sponsored one evening of their Music in the Parks summer series. Ron will be here to accept our donation check and to update us about the upcoming concert season.
Each month during the school year the club honors two students from each of three high schools in the area, Carman-Ainsworth, Swartz Creek and Powers Catholic. To accommodate each school's health policies, we will be honoring students either via Zoom or in person this year.
At the end of the year one student from each school will be selected for Student of the Year and will be awarded a $1,000 scholarship.
The Food Bank of Eastern Michigan provides a basic life giving need, food, to more than 211,000 people in our community. Our club as well as other Rotary clubs in the area give of our time and treasure to help in their effort. Connie, a fellow Rotarian from the Flint club will be here to tell us about the issues that they deal with on a day-to-day basis in order to help feed our community and how we can help in that effort.
