Fellow Rotarian Dan Crannie will tell us his life success story from growing up in Flint attending Southwestern and the Skills Center to his first job painting window signs for Hamady Bros to today running one of Michigan's largest regional sign manufacturers.
Dave, like 13% of the male population, was diagnosed with prostate cancer and was faced with a decision as to how he could best be treated. Hear his journey and how our McLaren Proton Center's state-of-the-art facility saved his life and how this medical technology is being utilized to treat other types of cancers.
As many of us know, a cancer diagnosis affects not just the patient but also the spouse and the entire family. Dave's wife will also be on hand to talk about her perspective on his treatment and the outcome.
March 21, 2023 - Students of the Month
Each month during the school year the club honors two students from each of three high schools in the area, Carman-Ainsworth, Swartz Creek and Powers Catholic. To accommodate each school's health policies, we will be honoring students either via Zoom or in person this year.
At the end of the year one student from each school will be selected for Student of the Year and will be awarded a $1,000 scholarship.
Known as the "Walk a Mile" program, it is an effort of the Michigan correctional system to provide mentoring services to former inmates returning to society. Tony will be here to share his knowledge as to how the program works and the successes it has had.
