Mar. 5, 2024 - America's Truck Shortage
Jason Anderegg

For the past four years, trucks have been in short supply. The industry which is best known for moving consumer goods, is also the life blood of the vocational services industry. The trickle down effect on the supply chain has had a major impact on goods and services, felt not only by us consumers, but to the companies supplying us services and our local/state government agencies as well.

Our fellow Rotarian, Jason, will be here to shed some light on the reasons for the shortage, it’s effects on us as consumers and his industry.
Mar. 12, 2024 - Into The Creek Productions
Ben Gillette, Journalism Teacher
and Students From
Swartz Creek High School

Students will share information about the broadcast journalism program at Swartz Creek. Into the Creek Productions (ITC) hosts a daily news show/announcements including live on-air remote segments. They also do live stream production work for events such as graduation and senior academic awards. Students will share what they do in class as reporters, hosts, and directors for their student run program.

Mar. 20, 2024 - Students of the Month
Each month during the school year the club honors two students from each of three high schools in the area, Carman-Ainsworth, Swartz Creek and Powers Catholic. To accommodate each school's health policies, we will be honoring students either via Zoom or in person this year.

At the end of the year one previous honoree from each school will be selected for Student of the Year and will be awarded a $1,000 scholarship.

Mar. 26, 2024 - Shelter Box
 PDG Jeff and Mary Lichty
Shelter Box USA Coordinators, Midwest Region

A Shelter Box is a self-contained portable set of essentials for providing shelter, cooking, and first aid for a family of four. Started by a small Rotary club in Cornwall, England, the program is now supported by thousands of Rotary, Rotoract and Interact clubs across the world, including Genesee Valley. Rotarians Jeff and Mary from the Clarkston club will be here for show 'n tell.

Jeff served as governor of District 6380, to the south of us, in the 2004-05 Rotary year.

50/50 Drawing Update

Each week the club holds a 50/50 drawing with proceeds going to our literacy project fund. Tickets are $1.00 each, 3 for $2.00. Three tickets from that week's donations are drawn and, in turn, each drawn ticket holder gets to select a card from an ever shrinking deck hoping to get the designated card and win the pot. Losing cards are discarded, the deck gets smaller and if no one wins the pot that week, it is rolled over to the next drawing.

After the Meeting of Mar 19th...

The pot is $29, 40 cards left in the deck.
